Germany: The German Federal Agency for Technical Relief, Technisches Hilfswerk (THW)
The German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) is participating in the BOTC exercise No. 1 in Weeze with one of its eight High Capacity Pumping – Modules.
These modules were designed – according to the general requirements and factsheets within the framework of the European Community Civil Protection Mechanism – to perform a sufficient pumping of water in flooded areas and to provide water for fire fighting.
THW already has a broad operational experience in the area of High Capacity Pumping on a national as well as on an international level (e.g. 2003 floods in southern France, 2005 Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans / USA). In the EU-exercise FloodEX 2009 four THW HCP modules were exercised.

Equipment:
One THW-HCP-module consists of the following components:
- 1 x Pump „DIA“, 15.000 Liter / min. (on trailer)
- 2 x Pumps “Hannibal / Börger” with each 5000 Liter / min. (on trailer)
- several additional equipment, such as submersible pumps, hoses, foldable containers, lighting kits, tool kits etc.
- several vehicles / trucks
